In 1971 or72 my wife was hospitalized at Sharpstown hospital in Houston Texas with hepatitas. I was working construction at the time and was only able to to visit her in the evenings. Our five year old son was staying with a lady friend during the day She was was there for several day before the doctor called to say that she could go home. I left work about ten oclock in the morning to get her from the hospital. She had the usual flowers, planst and small overnight bag. The nurse said it was policy that she go the car in a wheelchair. She pushed the chair and I pushed a small cart with the plants. I had parked under the drive thru awning just out side the front door. When we reached the glass doors I reached past the nurse and my wife to open the door. Before I could open it a hand reached from outside the door to open it. This was not unusual but the size of the hand and the person to whom it was attached was! I am 6'5' and weighed 270. This person was at least 7'6'. He had to weigh 400 lbs. But he wasn't fat. He looked middle forties, short white hair, very neetly cut. He was wearing a black suit, white shirt and black tie. Very seldom have I been impressed by size but this man was different. He wasn't just tall like todays basketball stars. He was perfectly proportioned. His hands were at least twice the size of mine. I said thank you as the three of of us filed past him as he held the door. As soon as I opened the car door and helped my wife into the car, I commented on the size of this man. Both my wife and the nurse had not SEEN HIM ! 'You didn't see HIM?' I couldn't believe it. I quickly went back in to the hospital and asked an orderly in the lobby if he had noticed anyone come in just seconds ago. 'No, just the nurse, you and the lady in the wheelchair have been in the lobby in the te minutes I have been here.' I am now fifty two, remarried and living in Dallas. I never go to a hospital with out looking for him. How it changed my life:makes me wonder....
