I was 8 or 9 when I went on vacation for the first time of my life. Me, my mother, and my stepfather, Dave, went to his great-great-grandfathers farm near Lake Cumberland When we arrived there was almost nothing for me to do, the television had 2 channels, and the shack was filthy beyond belief, so I couldn't touch nothing. Being a child carries curiosity as well, and I wandered to the top floor of the house. The stairs were worn in like they had not been used for a long time, and I almost fell through them. When I opened the door I was amazed to find many things throughout its extremities, and I started to feel cold chills run through my body as I walked along through the attic. When I finally go to cold to handle it, I walked back downstairs into the kitchen where supper was being made. I told her I was going outside and that I would be in in a half hour. When I went outside I saw my stepdad playing around with some old machines (I have no idea what they were), and I looked up at the window then, for no givin' reason, and saw the light on. I was shocked, first because I never turned the light on, and two because no one else did. I had looked through the whole attic at the old dusted tools and such, and never saw anyone hiding. My mom never went upstairs, and either did my stepfather. When I told them, at first they did not believe me. Then after crying my eyes out from being so scared, they went up to see what was causing it. They said that when they were going up the stairs they stopped because they saw a shadow (figure of a man)coming towards the door very fast, and turning off the light. My mom and dad ran as fast as their legs could carry them, and packed up and we left. I think my mom was so scared she left the food cooking on the stove. How it changed my life:I think I am still a little affraid of the dark. I get very uneasy when I see any sort of unexplainable things on t.v.
