My dear sister posted about my making afghan squares for Amercan Angels Hero-Ghans for troops who have passed on and for Wounded-Ghans for troops who have been injured.

These are both Yahoo groups so if anyone is interested in more info let me know or search on Yahoo Groups.

Members also make slippers, helmet liners for cold winters, cool ties out of cloth for heat which gets really bad over there, baby outreach for outfits for new babies.  Whenever possible the Hero-Ghans are hand delivered to the famlies.

I am posting the first 2 pics of the afghans I contributed to.

Photobucket

This Wounded-Ghan went to a Bengals fan.  My square is the last row on the right on the 2nd from the bottom.  It is orange and black striped with orange border.

Photobucket

This Heroghan is typical of all of them usually done in red, white and blue.  My square is at the very top and center that looks like a flag with one big star on it.

Date: 5/13/2008 1:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63725    Thanks-the tags you see all have an American Angels logo on this and web address and we each sign our name on one and attach to our square.

Date: 5/13/2008 2:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    Oh how nice of you Lisa to upload these photos for us to see. I love crocheting and I knit pretty well .. so of course I wanted to see where your squares ended up. I just knew that the paper tags attached to each square were who created each square. That really shows that a caring human being made those squares and wanted them to go forward to loving hands. I especially loved your flag square. Our American flag has always held a special place in my heart. I know that as kids we were taught to honor it, pledge to it, and never let it touch the ground. But somehow my feelings go far beyond that. I honestly get chills up my spine when I see the flag waving strongly on a flag pole. And yes, I have a flag outside my home too. *Hugs* to you Lisa for all your hard work !!!

Date: 5/13/2008 5:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63725    Thank you all so much! We even have one lady in our group who is almost blind and she crochets by memory. She has this unique square she designed with a pocket on it. I am amazed at what she can do. I just like to try something a little different with each square I make.
