Turns out that the little activities we do every day can pay off BIG TIME when it comes to the bathroom scale. So, here’s what to do from sun-up to sun-down, courtesy of the researchers at Condé Nast Publications.
At 7:30 AM: Make your bed instead of leaving it a mess as usual. In fact, go ahead and throw some fresh sheets on there! Calories burned: 30
At 8:50 AM: park in the spot that’s FARTHEST from your office or train, and power walk there. A 3-minute walk each way will burn 40 calories.
Then, at 10:20 AM: Forget using your email! Actually get up, and deliver 10 or 15 messages to coworkers you need to chat with. That’s 65 calories down.
At 12:35 PM: Take the stairs instead of the elevator when you go to lunch. For an added punch, do it when you arrive and leave work, too. Calories burned: 55
At 3:15 PM: Hike the three blocks to your nearest Starbucks – rather than driving – to pick up your skim latte. You’ll burn 65 calories. As long as you count those coffee calories as part of your daily calorie total, you’ll come out ahead.
Then, at 5:45 PM: Leave the shopping cart in the grocery store and carry your bags to the car yourself. Once you get home, take them inside on your own. You’ll work off 35 calories.
At 7:20 PM: Skip the dishwasher and do your sinkful of dishes by hand. 15 minutes of washing will burn 45 calories.
At 8:30 PM: Get off the couch and pace around while you chat on the phone with a friend for 20 minutes. That’s 65 calories gone!
