I was a bit young to remember all the details, but my older sister told me that my father brought me to one of the outhouses on the property (yes, we did have indoor plumbing, but still retained the old outhouses) and showed me that deep dark hole, full of spider webs and such. She said Dad told me if I didn't straighten up and "go right," I'd have to do my business in the outhouse, forever. My sister told me shortly after, I began doing (the business) like some sort of child prodigy...hehe:) Might have a time finding an outhouse these days, though. Good luck with Miss Abby, Purple Rose.:) Write on.... |

We've tried just about everything to get our son to potty train. The one thing that kinda works, when it's time to take him to the potty, he loves trains, so we tell him it's time to get on the potty train, woo woo. HE thinks it's funny, still haven't got the boy potty trainned! But at least we can get him in the potty room with out him screamming! |

I potty train in my class, 2 and a half year olds to 3 year olds. And They are pretty good, I hate it when they say they got to go, and sit for a second, or just want to wash their hands. But It is a good feeling knowing your helping them to become a big boy and girl. |

LOL, Kronk, I've seen a few outhouses and had to use one too when we would go to my aunt & uncle's lake house. Yeah, it would make me "go right" too!! |

Jimmy, my hubby says cheerio's are great for teaching little boys how to go potty, that's what they did for his son, just throw about 3 cheerios in the bowl and tell him to aim! |

My son potty trained himself. I guess watching his slightly older cousin graduate to training pants really gave him a goal. I didn't have to potty train my oldest daughter, as my son potty trained her himself. They are a little over a year apart. Then when my youngest came along, who is a little over a year younger than the my first daughter, my son and she potty trained her. The only thing I had to do was run to the toilet and hold her because my son and oldest daughter would be screaming for me to make sure she didn't get flushed down the toilet. Until the toilet was flushed they would both be holding onto her for dear life so she wouldn't fall into the hole at the bottom of the toilet. |

The best thing I found to work with my children was to relax and not force the issue. Some are ready earlier than others, and some are harder to train. Ultimately, my 4 kids were trained in their own time, not mine...lol. Good luck! |

I wish I could remember the potty training aspect for all of my kids. It's been too long ago for me. :) I do know that my son was potty trained at day care, and taught to sit and go instead of stand. LOL! |
