Don't bail out the Automakers. The only reason they are having trouble is because they have been running on borrowed money. That money is not being lended because the banks aren't lending. The Big 3 Have to change their ways of doing business like cutting down on the amount of dealerships and having to many models of vehicles. Face down the drug issue once and for all...Make Marijuana a taxable item just like ciggerettes and alchol. The revenue itself would be legitimate and put the "flow" back into economic river. Look at the Student Loan Program and CAP OFF interest limits, now they continue on forever and also incrue the pentalties and such from the Collection Agencies that work for the Federal Student Loan Program. Those are a few of mine, I am sure people can come up with more, would like to hear what can be done about the constant homebuilding, especially suburban sprawl. ![]() |

I don't know what Congress will do with the automakers. From the hearings that were going on, I could see that our elected representatives are concerned, and that some of them at least understand economics. One of them asked the automakers how in the world they expected to make money when they had 7,000 dealerships across the country and consistently sold less cars than another maker who had 1,700 dealerships. The rise in the price of gas seemed like a concerted move to me. Someone, somewhere was pulling strings, and when pulled, it stretched our whole economic system to the brink since people had to pay so much more for gas (and thus everything transported using fuel) it disrupted the consumer cycle we had been building this house of cards on. Speaking of which, the housing market, at least here in Arizona, was being based on the population explosion that was going on here. Of course, that explosion was from south of the border, and no one seemed to care as long as the money was rolling in. Unfortunately our politicians were getting that roll in for themselves as in kickbacks etc., instead of having any brains to see that with all these "extra" people, extraordinary means needed to be taken to see that some of that money was rolling into the government coffers via real time payments (taxes, tariffs, fees) for such things as money wiring, replacing the "income" tax with a national sales tax, and border crossing fees. Illegal immigrants PAY to come to this country, thousands upon thousands of dollars, but who are those payments going to? But to talk about "change" with this presidency and understanding he is considering our illustrious governor as his Homeland Security Agency appears to me to be a case of putting the fox in charge of the henhouse. I am in absolute agreement with you about legalizing Marijuana. There is a huge market for that product in this country, yet we prohibit our own citizens from capitalizing on same, hardly a tenant of a capitalistic society. Yet, "legal" drugs and drug makers come up with all sorts of substances to sell our populous, some to just keep alive longer to leech from the system. What can "we" do? We can take responsibility for our own lives, instead of thinking that the government can take better care of our own selves than we can. God Bless. ![]() |

Now that is a REPLY!...Glad that the paragraphs can be made on replies now.Everything you state is excellent common sense reality."We" need to be more aware and open to the propblems we face and stop begging the government to help every time things get a little rough. I have my own problems, most of them made by the government, like the Student Loan crises, also discrimination agaionst ex-felons.I am a Welder and Every Company will not hire Felons now, they say straight on the want ads. How are felons to be reintroduced in society if we only give them the worst, lowest paying jobs. There needs to be laws passed that are sensible..Everything get's blown out of porportion and manipulated to serve the interests of big lobbiests and public works. We need our Government but we need one that really addresses problems not just "Rescue" everyone..all I want is too work for a living. It has been almost 7 years since the fight that lead to my incarceration,Now I live hand to mouth everyday. ![]() |

I hear you, bro. Your story is very familiar to me, and, though you may not want to hear this, God's Hand in our lives is the Only Reason we've been able to handle everything. God Bless. ![]() |
