The ghost from the battle of shiloh

One day,My brother had a birthday party. He had some people over at his house while I got to have 2 other people over at my mothers house.

Anyway, me and my friends got to set up a tent about 4 miles away from my mothers house which is very close to the burial grounds of the battle of Shiloh. We were talking and cuttin up in our tent when all of a sudden we heard gun shots. We thought is was probably coon hunters. so we just kept on talking, but then we heard some horses and people shouting. It scared the living heck out of us because nowadays people drive four wheelers where we live. So we started to walk out of the tent to check out what it was. We walked to where we heard the noise and ran into a guy who startled us half to death. He was dressed in black with a shovel in his hand and a big lantern. We asked him if he heard anything and he just walked off with his back to us and disapeared. By then we ran off screaming all the way back.

How it changed my life:

Today I still believe that some ghost perform the reanactment of the battle of shiloh and to this day will never camp out there again, and for all of you that don't know what the battle of shiloh is it is the biggest battle in Civil War

Date: 9/29/1999 4:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 520    I don't blame you. I wouldn't camp there again either.
Date: 9/29/1999 8:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 677    i'm just wondering what the battle of shiloh is
Date: 9/29/1999 8:35:00 PM    i liked it!!!!
Date: 9/30/1999 4:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 582    That is cool though, you've never gone back since? I love history and I think they probably do reanact the war. But I don't think I'd care to witness the killing myself. Chelle
Date: 9/30/1999 6:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 408    good story. I think you saw just what you think you did. I think it would be real cool to visit a place like that. The Gettysburg battlefield is one of the most haunted battlefields around. Not that that has anything to do with the story.
Date: 9/30/1999 7:25:00 AM    great history even if is't real.
Date: 9/30/1999 12:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 697    I think this story is pretty good. i would have knocked the guy out.
Date: 9/30/1999 8:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 679    A pity you didn't return. A second sighting would have at least confirmed if it was just a person/moment imprinted in that spot, or an actual ghost. As for me, I truly don't blame you for shying away from the spot. Clear heads. and all that.
Date: 10/1/1999 1:01:00 PM    My aunt lives in shiloh and we hear things at her house too.
I understand completely.
Date: 10/2/1999 1:56:00 PM    awsome
Date: 10/2/1999 8:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 595    I have visited Shiloh. It is a perfect setting for a ghost story.
Date: 10/6/1999 5:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 751    Heck yeah.
Date: 10/7/1999 12:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 670    Great strory.
Date: 10/7/1999 8:26:00 PM    I used to visit the battlefield every summer. My stepdad was from humbolt tenessee and would take us there from texas. The bloody pond there has rumors of ghost visitation of men who faught in the battle. I feel bad that they had to loose their lives for a great cause. If you get this message, camp out there again sometime and try to see one of them. Im sure it would happen if you believed it would! Good story!!
Date: 10/9/1999 4:55:00 AM    I,ve read\heard many ghost stories, believing in very few. However, your story I do believe, for some reason. I,ve always found the spirits of war to be the most interesting. My theory is that these Civil War ghosts think they're still alive, fighting the war. They probabaly don't know of our existance. They can't hear or see us, which might be the reason why the ghost you saw ignored you. Go back to that place and take some friends! Theres no reason to be afraid. You may see some more glimpses of history!
Date: 10/10/1999 12:32:00 PM    Very cool story. I personally wouldn't want to go back for another night. It is hard enough watching wars on movies such as SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Missy
Date: 10/12/1999 12:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 670    Wow!great story probably the best one i've heard in a long time!
Date: 11/23/1999 3:05:00 PM    i think out of all ghost stories, the civil war ghost stories are the most interesting. maybe it is true that when you have your life taken away so sudden and tragically, you stick around on this earth to replay over and over again that stressful moment in which you died for. the more you learn and hear their stories the more you learn to respect them. so maybe they are still here so we, who are alive will never forget what they did for us.
Date: 9/24/2000 11:55:00 AM    ok. sure it could have been a reinactment, but you never know. i am doing a project on this, and i think that i can get extra credit points now!! this is great
Date: 10/9/2000 6:20:00 PM    Aside from your atrocious grammar, IF you really saw and heard what you said you did, all it was was some Civil War reenactors, or illegal relic hunters (i.e., antiquities thieves). There are no ghosts, only ignorant and superstitious people.
Date: 12/12/2000 4:22:00 PM    this is a great tale some would probably say that this is not believable but I myself camped out there one night and believe you me I will never go back there again I heard and saw about the same thing but I saw two guys, anyways it freaked my out and I got my keys and left leaving my stuff there until the next morning in the daylight.
Date: 2/1/2001 11:27:00 AM    I'm doing a report on the battle of sihloh it is pretty interesting. great story. sam
