I am a third-generation American whose grandparents were from Italy. No one in our family knew Italian or remembered much from the old country, except my MOTHER used to always say she was DESCENDED FROM "royalty." Ten years ago, I asked her oldest sister, who knows the most and has TRAVELED TO ITALY, about it one day. She said "there is a little town HIGH IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NAPLES" THAT BEARS HER MOTHER'S SURNAME, "LAURITANO"; her grandparents and family line BEFORE them were the equivalent of BARONS and their crypts are in the old church. One lady even shares my first name, but with a different spelling. I thought little of this until recently, when I started DREAMING OF A TERRIBLE, ROUND LIMESTONE ROOM that was used as a PRISON; once you were put in there, <I>there was no way out</I>; IMPLIED WAS THE INNMATES, SPIRITUALLY GIFTED PEOPLE CONFINED FOR <B>"INSANITY" or "KNOWING TOO MUCH"</B>, DIED THERE OF TORTURE AND STARVATION. I had a couple more dreams on the same theme and was in the process of analyzing them when I suddenly thought of looking up "Lauritano" in the search engine. I'd researched the name before, with nothing interesting resulting. However, this time I had quite a surprise: The discovery of a Castle Lauritano in Amalfi, San Larazzo (perhaps named for <B>Lazarus,</B> who rose from the dead?). Though not much is known about the ancient ruins, the dreams made me wonder what could have gone on there behind those stone walls centuries ago. |
