DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

  Author: 989  Category:(Interesting) Created:(10/14/1999 8:11:00 PM)
This post has been Viewed (1262 times)

I have recently began to post here. It's a great forum for people to share amazing experiences with others. But I feel I should post this message before I post anything else.

Is there any reason why people can't keep their rude and ridiculous comments to themselves. I always like to know how people feel about my experiences, whether they are skeptical or not. What I refer to is replying to someone's stories attempting to belittle them. I can't imagine why anyone would have responded the way they did to my last story.

It's sad when people clutter a useful forum with their uselessness. I can only imagine that the anonynimity of the internet is the only way they'd ever make such remarks.

How it changed my life:

It didn't. I've dealt with these types in the real world. It's not too surprising that a few would crop up in the virtual one.

Date: 10/14/1999 10:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 830    it wasn't me i promise.i didn't even get to read the response.i'm sure it was funny.you should just leave them up if they're not vulgar. dallas
Date: 10/15/1999 2:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 973    While we're on Dalla's subject I would like to
know what VULGAR is. I was under the impression
it was the use of 4-letter SWEAR WORDS. However,
I wrote a very nice answer (nothing like the
above writer is justly complaining about),
HUMOUROUSLY using the word "turd" and it was
DELETED. That kind of censorship seems so picky
and pollyannish. Please don't FLAME me, either,
anyone. I have a right to FREEDOM OF SPEECH, too!
Date: 10/15/1999 7:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 830    the f- word, bit-- ,as---le ,p----, d--kh--d,f---face,bu-tmunch,t-rd,pen-sbreathe,f-g,sl-t,wh-re.ok i think i covered everything.don't say any of these words on this web site. dallas
Date: 10/15/1999 10:50:00 AM  ( Admin )   Authors have the ability to delete any comments that appear in their stories. It is their judgement that one has to suffer.
Date: 10/15/1999 12:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 973    I see. So I suppose one has to resort to long,
boring, generally hard-to-understand words like
"excrement", etc.
Date: 10/15/1999 1:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 830    use what you want .if they delete it who cares.i talk like a sailor sometimes but somewords shouldn't be put on this site like the f-word. dal
Date: 10/15/1999 2:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 1071    I RECENTLY SUBMITTED MY FIRST STORY AND ALTHOUGH I DID NOT AGREE WITH ALL THE COMMENTS I GUESS EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO AN OPINION AND IT IS HARD TO SOMETIMES GET YOUR POINT ACROSS VIA THIS MEDIUM. IT WOULD SEEM PEOPLE HAVE A TENDENCY TO PSYCHOANALYZE, BUT THATS OK TOO CAUSE TALK IS CHEAP, EVEN COMPUTER PSYCHOBABBLE. JUST REMEMBER THOSE PEOPLE WERE/ARE NOT THERE AND THEY DONT UNDERSTAND FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE UP TO THEIR EXPECTATIONS AND CRITICISMS AND RUDENESS COULD BE POOR JUDGEMENT OR AN INABILITY TO UNDERSTAND OR EMPATHIZE ON THEIR PARTS. HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH, EVEN PUTTING A STORY ON THIS WEBSITE TAKES GUTS!!
Date: 10/15/1999 3:12:00 PM    I think, if people would just sit down and think about what they are going to write, and what they want to say, then your point will come across, clear. It's understandable that not all of us can write, or can express ourselves clearly in words, but if you follow the "who, what, where, and when" of your story, it will come to you alot easyer than to just throw whatever, on your page. -Jedi
Date: 10/15/1999 3:44:00 PM    Don't forget the 'why' also.
Date: 10/15/1999 7:07:00 PM    I don't think you really need a "why", If you see bigfoot in the woods, it's pretty clear "why"; you were in the woods. If you're writting about an airplane crash, you don't need "why"; the plane fell.-Jedi
Date: 10/20/1999 3:43:00 PM    I'm meaning more of the 'why' in telling the story. It's also a part of the 5 w's of English, learned it in school.
Date: 7/21/2000 4:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 12006    That is very true! I'd be glad to listen to any of your stories! ---Velvet---
