In late winter of 1996 I was driving my mom home after a trip from Calgary to Brooks Alberta, which is a drive of about two hours. It was around 11 in the evening and the roads were fairly quiet. We had passed Bassano and were surrounded by open prairie when to the right side of the vehicle, perhaps half a mile from the road there was a huge explosion of the most brillian green light I have ever seen. As my mom and I exclaimed about this there were two more extremely brilliant explosions of color of yellow and white, but over a length of perhaps a mile. The flashes appeared to come from behind some kind of long vehicle of some kind. We thought it might be a train but there were no trains visible and besides in my 39 years I have never seen such brilliant flashes that lasted perhaps a 1/20th of a second.
