| Date: 5/28/2000 12:18:00 AM i lived in Abilene for 18 years before i went to college in Austin. I have personally never been to Anson to witness the lights and I must say that I have been a sceptic my entire life. However, I have very close friens who swear to its validity, and I have heard stories from literally hundreds of people. The wierd thing is that noone has ever been let down out there that i have talked to. No matter the time or amount of people present, the lights always appear. For the record, as the story goes: A little boy went out to play one evening and his mother sent him with a lamp. She told him that when she flashed her porch lights he was to return to the house. However, when the mother flashed her lights the boy did not return and he was never found. Legend has it that when you flash your car lights the little boy's ghost will turn on his lamp and attempt to return home. Despite my disbelief, it is very surprising how many people have witnessed the light. it does seem wierd that so many people would see the same light, tell the same story, and always witness what they came for. To those who believe it is a guy with a flashlight or something simple like that, i agree it is possible but not very plausible. Every night he walks around with a flashlight at random times during the night? I dont think so. |

Hi. I am a sophomore in Midland, TX going to Lee High School. I was born in Anson, TX in 1984. I haven't got to see the lights but my sisters did. They said that it was waving around like the legend says. Just in case you don't know the legend, I got on ulrc.com.au and typed in anson lights in the search. A story should show up with the legend of the mother and the son. This report would be better if you added the legend of the lights. |

It is not someone with a flashlight out there every night waiting on people, and it is no reflection from signs or cars on the highway. It was on unsolved mysteries a number of years ago, and there are several theories about it. I'm a high school student from Irving Texas. My buddy's sister goes to college at A.C.U. and I've just returned home from the trip. Yes, the lights are real. To make matters worse his sister and her boyfriend decided to walk from the crossroad up to the lights. As they got closer to the light it just swayed back a forth, and began to return to the grave yard but it paused, then they began hearing wispering. It was almost something they said they heard subconciously. When one questioned the other about the whisper, they then determined it was real. It seemed to get louder so they turned back for the car where my buddy and I were waiting. they looked back and it seemed as if the light was approaching so they ran for the car. They were yelling at the top of their lungs to us but we never knew they were coming until they reached the car. we never heard them. Between the two of us I'm sure we coulda heard something as we waited outside the car. Another strange thing is that the temperature in Anson was 56F, but after we flashed the lights at the crossroad the temperature dropped rapidly. When we stepped out of the car it was considerably colder then it was in town. There is another strange phenomenon that occours no more than a mile from the crossroads. As you face the highway at the crossroads, if you are to take a left and travel that road until it's next cross-street and then take a right, eventually you would find (buried deep in grass) a set of railroad tracks that's underneath the road, but prevailes on either side. If you park the car on the tracks and sit for a sec, when you leave and get out later you will find dozens of little dirty hand prints all over your car. We have photo proof of these prints and we compared them to my friends hand. They are the hands of someone very small..as in age 5 or so. Legend has it that a school bus was hit by the train there after it stalled one day, so the prints are the ghosts of children whom try to push you off the track. Now the car doesn't actually move when you do this, but the prints DO show up. If you put baby powder on the car, the prints will show up as dirt. Check it out. Matt |

I've even walked up the road, and as I did, the light started getting further and further until it disappeared into nowhere, but as we turned around, it started coming back. We didn't have a flashlight so there was no way that it saw us. But matt is right about the cold spots, that was REALLY odd. But also, there is another very strange happening right by the light. In the graveyard along that road, there is a cement grave above the ground. I've heard this story before, but didn't believe it...until last night. My boyfriend was in town so me and him and 2 other friends went. When we put our ears on it and knocked....IT KNOCKED BACK! But it wasn't an "echo knock." It knocked back in a COMPLETELY different pattern. Naturally, we all RAN back to the car, locked the doors and sped out of there. Check it out! |

| Date: 1/30/2001 7:59:00 AM I live in Anson, Texas, and yes, there is a light. However, it does not get so close to you. It stays very far away. The light is a phenomenon, but it doesn't dance or change colors unless the viewer has been partaking of some spirits himself. |
| Date: 2/18/2001 9:38:00 AM Puzzled by the phenomenon, I have visited the Anson light several times. I have tried to photograph it, video tape it, and film it with an 8mm camera, with no real luck. When using the zoop lenses on the camera's, I did determine one thing, the light does not get closer. But, it does get brighter, dimmer, sways from side to side, changes color slightly, and seems to disappear over the hill away from you periodically. It disappears as you get closer to it, but seems to become more visible as you move away from it (away from the crossroads). My solution was simple. Upon my next trip, I brought along a telescope. Through the telescope, I was able to determine exactly what the light is. It is cars on a distant highway. The flat Texas plains allows the light to carry great distances. As the cars go around a curve, and the next one comes, the light moves from side to side. The more cars, the brighter the light gets. No cars, it disappears over the horizon. Take a telescope and see for yourselves. --Clayton |

It's true! I have been out there a time or two, every time I go out there though, the light never seems to venture towards us, it's like it's scared of US or something. And I thought that maybe it was the lights of the cemetery, because in front of the cemetery there are two bulbed lights, and that maybe it was them reflecting off of something and coming closer and closer, but upon further inspection, the lights of the cemetery are not even bright enough to be seem from the crossroads, nor are the large enough. So what the light is remains a mystery to me, but I love to hear other peoples freaky stories about the light and other weird occurances.
