Shoe Box Baby searching for birthmother

  Author: 17  Category:(ESP) Created:(8/28/1999 10:34:00 PM)

I am 31 years old and I was adopted at birth. I am a mother of 2 and I am starting to be curious about finding my birthmother/father. I've known my whole life that I was adopted and have never been ashamed of it by any means, perhaps I didn't want to hurt my moms feelings by asking too many questions and I never wanted her to know I was curious of finding my birthmom. I was afraid she wouldn't understand and take it the wrong way. I was born in Pico Rivera, California, February of 1967. From what I under stand, I was delivered at home, taken to the hospital in a shoe box and abandoned. My mom knew one of the doctors at the hospital, in fact a few times prior to this event he had contacted my parents to advise them there was a baby her that needed a home and if they were interested. My mom was ill at the time but never the less would go take a peak at the newborns. She already had 6 of her own, (the 6th was an adoptee), and being sick she declined taking the baby to adopt. She was in no shape to adopt another but felt compelled to see if there was any connection with these babies, she was also 42. On February 6th the Doctor called again, mom said she'd call him back. After speaking to my dad they decided to go to the hospital just to look. My mom said when she looked into my eyes my eyes sparkled back. She knew I was sent here to be with her. Although totally unprepared for this new arrival, I went home with them the next day. I have never regretted being adopted, nor have I ever felt 'abandoned' or betrayed. But I feel I should start this search to let my birthmom know that I respect her for doing the right thing and that I have a great family. I am married and have 2 children, my first was born has asthma, and was born with her esophagus attached to her lung, not her stomache. The surgery was serious yet simple, all is well with that now. I just wonder if there is any medical history I should be aware of for both my children and myself.

But the best way to see it is to look at everything you have now and understand that because life is so fragile the path we walk is being altered by life itself. Your real mother wanted the best for you and did what they did and you got that in the end. im sure that your real mom and dad are thinking of you now. I feel so happy that you are mature to see life that way, shouldn't everyone?
