My husband and I were living in the Hopewell Junction area of New York (upstate)in the early to mid 1980's. I remember that it was a mild evening, although I can't recall the time of year. We had just finished watching 'The Bob Newhart Show' on television and before retiring for the night I proceeded to start closing the living room windows. As far as I can remember it was somewhere between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. As I was beginning to close the first window something across the street caught my eye. At first glance it appeared to be a light on top of our widow neighbor's house. I couldn't imagine why I could see a small light so tried to focus. I asked my husband to take a look and he thought we might be seeing some of her interior house lighting showing through a roof vent. Fearing an attic fire, I continued to watch for a few more minutes. Shortly thereafter (and I can't describe this any other way) I got a strange sense of something not being right. I went to! a front bedroom window, a darker part of our house so I could get a better vantage point. The only way I can describe what I saw next was astonishing. Something made me look up higher over our neighbor's house and I noticed that even though it was a very starry night, I could not see a huge area of stars. At first I only had the sensation that I was looking at something extremely large. Well, I didn't trust my own eyes so called for my husband to come take a look. At this point he said he 'saw' what I was looking at, but neither of us heard any sound or saw any movement. In just a few moments we did see movement and that is when we could make out a gigantic dark, definitely triangular shaped vehicle. The point of the triangle was at the front and appeared to be somewhat rounded as well as the two posterior points. We saw no windows and at that time no lights. The object made a VERY slow turn to the right and moved away very slowly and with absolutely no sound. Once ! the rear was facing us we saw only white and red lights on the back in a straight horizontal line. We watched until we could no longer see the lights and of course were speculating on what it was until we went to sleep. We were well aware of a group of pilots in the area who liked to fly in a 'V' formation weekly. I knew someone who knew one of the pilots and they said they liked to get a reaction. They were a very recognizable group and you could always hear the plane engines, even from a distance. This looked nothing at all like that! The next day there was mention of several sightings by people in the Upstate New York area. I'll never know what I saw but it sure was unidentifiable in my book. Perhaps the strangest aspect of this signting was yet to follow. About 8 months later, while my husband was on a business trip, I was getting ready for sleep and glanced out the bedroom window at the end of our house and guess what I saw. Yes, the very same object, only from ! a distance this time. Here's the weird part...when my husband got home I told him about it and he had absolutely no recall of the original event. He said he can remember looking out the window with me at first, but doesn't recall seeing anything, yet we clearly discussed it and speculated about it at the time. One thing I must mention. There was no feeling of fear at the time...just curiosity and amazement...I also remember wanting to go outside to get a closer look but my husband said no to. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else was living in the area at the time and had an experience, or if there has been any investigating of sightings in the area. The memory will always be with me, and my nephews always enlist me to tell the story to their friends. How it changed my life:More open minded and positive
